Search on page highlight leaves behind dirt

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open crbug.com/new
2. Ctrl+F (I assume search bar is empty)
3. Enter "e" then hit Backspace

What is the expected result?
Nothing is hightlighted.

What happens instead of that?
Pieces of highlighting are left under some e's (prominent in "Notify me of issue changes, if enabled in settings" on screenshot)
