Can't sign in to a google apps education account from login screen

Reported by beck.bu...@gbhs.school.nz, Jun 15 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 8350.21.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/52.0.2743.32 Safari/537.36
Platform: ee5a455b8657cf2d6b8f764cd368b16478ed83db-refs/branch-heads/2743@{#253}

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Make sure you are on the beta or dev channels
2. add a chrome account to the login screen that is part of a 'Google Apps for Education' domain.
3. try to login with your password
4. it should say "username and password cannot be verified"
5. after many unsuccessful attempts you are taken to the domains native login page where signing in works

What is the expected behavior?
when I input my password, I should sign into my account.

What went wrong?
when I put in my password, I get the message: "Username and password cannot be verified"

Did this work before? Yes when I was in the stable channel and NOT in the beta or dev channles

Chrome version: 52.0.2743.32 Channel: beta
OS Version: 8350.21.1
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

I assure you that:
My password is being inputted correctly,
The problem in not with the domain,
I have correct wifi access,
The problem does not appear under exactly the same circumstances on the stable channel.

any changes?

Do we have a contact at gbhs.school.nz to see if this is a larger issue (happens to other accounts, can we get a test account to reproduce)? Sounds like maybe this is an issue with scraping passwords from SAML pages, which would be a Bad Thing.
