Issue descriptionChrome Version: 52.0.2743.39 Chrome OS Version: 8350.28.0 Chrome OS Platform: All Network info: Ethernet Please specify Cr-* of the system to which this bug/feature applies (add the label below). Steps To Reproduce: (1) Connect chromecast and keep both chromecast and chromebook in same network (2) Open file browser in chromebook and open drive (3) Play any video in default media player (4) Observe chromecast icon and cast video (5) Close lid and open for suspend resume video (6) Observe video in chromebook Expected Result: -- Video continues play in chromecast -- Video status has to shown in chromebook Actual Result: -- Connection lost between device and chromecast How frequently does this problem reproduce? (Always, sometimes, hard to reproduce?) Always What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? If so, what is it? Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screen shot or log if possible.

I don't believe that it's possible to stream downloaded media from the Chromebook while the lid is closed as that suspends the network stack. Assigning to myself to repro & confirm.

Here's the current status using a Chromebook Pixel (55.0.2883.35 beta) and a video file in my @google.com account. When I play the file on drive.google.com, the Files app, or in a browser tab, none of them offer native Cast support: it can only be done through tab or desktop mirroring. These are not expected to work when while Chromebook is suspended. In the meantime an app like Videostream can be used for casting local media. (Actually, drag and drop from Files to a browser tab takes a long time to start. That seems like a bug.) |
