So by the repro steps, on the third plug of USB headphones (having HDMI always following USB), the USB audio node does not show. Is step (9) mandatory i.e. closing the source of audio. Can you reproduce with other audio source, or even without playing audio?

In step 8: Active node is HDMI and Inactive node is USB Now if we unplug USB head phone first ( repeat step 4) then this node will be in Inactive state. In Step 10: we are plugging USB headset which is in Inactive state. @Helen can you please confirm the USB Headset state(Active/Inactive) while Unplugging in step 8.

Yes, step 9 : close youtube is optional. USB headphone is listed under Ubertray, however it's not auto switched/selected as output. Audio Input under Ubertray is switched/selected as USB microphone.

sontis@ is right - at 4) hdmi becomes active output, resp. in 7) it becomes active too, and b/c in 8) we unplug USB headphones while not being the active output node(but active input node), then it is remembered as such, and plugging it back later in 10) does not enable it as active output, but just active input. This is WAI. Interesting user case though. |
