Version: 52.0.2743.33
OS: Mac OS X 10.11.5
I just updated to M52 on Mac and the new UI looks quite bad. It seems to be a major step back to me -- the UI elements look dated, like a browser from the 1990s.
- The folder icon in the bookmarks bar looks like something from the original Macintosh.
- The back/forward buttons and the choice of shading for the tab strip all feel quite dated.
It's hard to put my finger on what's wrong here. It's the first time I've seen a browser refresh on Chrome that seems like a major regression. At this point Firefox looks much better than Chrome on the Mac. I'm not sure of the rationale for this change, but here's one vote against it.
