Issue description<b>Version: <Kenneth, what is the frequency?></b> <b>OS: <please tell me it's not XP></b> What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Get one of these webcams: - Trust WB-1400T (http://www.trust.com/en/product/14382-webcam-wb-1400t) - Asus K55VM built in webcam - Asus Eee PC 1015P built in webcam (2) LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l2convert.so chromium-browser https://alexandre.alapetite.fr/doc-alex/html5-webcam/index.en.html (3) LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l2convert.so google-chrome https://alexandre.alapetite.fr/doc-alex/html5-webcam/index.en.html What is the expected output? Both alternatives should work. The Trust cam isn't recognized if v4l2convert isn't provided, but this is expected. It should both be recognized and work with v4l2convert. What do you see instead? The webcams are recognized but fail to produce an image. Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

An alternative way to phrase this is "these cams should work but they don't". We know that the .so gets loaded at least, otherwise the Trust would not even be recognized. This could be a regression from 50 to 51 as well.
