Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.84 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Move mouse cursor on <a> link and leave it there What is the expected behavior? The cursor keeps "pointer" type What went wrong? In a few seconds the cursor gets reset to "default", and you need to move it our of link and then move back to get the "pointer" type again. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 51.0.2704.84 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.11.5 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0 This is the same issue as #357347, I think. I am not sure if it actually was fixed two years ago, but it is certainly broken now.

Yes, I can confirm that it happens on all the websites when it does happen. It also has something to do with the other applications open in parallel. If you go through the previous thread I've mentioned ( issue #357347 ), you'll see that people got the same issue when Photoshop was open on Mac. In some cases it happens with me as well. But hiding Photoshop doesn't help in my case, only closing it completely. Just a wild guess, but maybe it is related to overall memory consumption on Mac (and specifically by Chrome?). But the issue does exist, though, maybe it is not easy to reproduce. I would suggest to try opening as many applications as possible (e.g., Photoshop CC and others that can take a lot of resources). It takes about 3-5 seconds for the cursor to switch from initial "pointer" to "default". It never got back to "pointer" unless you move it out of the link and move back again. Then the behavior repeats - in a few seconds it gets reset to "default".

If this bug only occurs when Photoshop is running, that seems to imply that Photoshop is misbehaving in a way that causes the cursor to get reset. Can you file a bug with Adobe for this?

The cursors misbehaves in Chrome. Photoshop might affect that behavior or might not, but the mouse cursor changes its state in Chrome on links. It seems to be connected to Chrome directly. Guys, could you please read through the previous bug filed earlier, I seem to have referred to it already - #357347, comments #84 - #91. The comment #92 says that the issue was in Synergy and it was resolved, but in fact it isn't. Just to reiterate, the cursor changes its shape in Chrome (!) from "pointer" to "default" after a few seconds while hovering links. When you move it out of the link and move it back again, it restores its state to "pointer", and in a few seconds gets reset to "default" again. I really have no idea whose fault is that - Adobe, Apple or any other software manufacturer, but the issues occurs specifically in Google Chrome, not in Safari, and not in Firefox. Only (!) in Chrome.

PS I also don't know if it happens "only" when Photoshop is running, and, as I mentioned before, maybe it's not Photoshop in particular, but just some side-effect related to memory or something else. "Photoshop" has been mentioned just as a reference to a similar bug filed before where it was mentioned in a similar situation. It does appear as something related but it's not necessarily Adobe software per se. Photoshop itself works just fine, by the way, with no issues, as well as all the other applications running in parallel (except for this issue with the mouse cursor in Chrome).

This is a Photoshop bug. Photoshop, for some reason, gets into a mode where it forces the cursor to an arrow cursor, even though it's not the active app. This behavior occurs with other apps as well - if you're using TextEdit and have an i-Beam cursor, Photoshop will reset it to an arrow. If you are not experiencing this bug with Photoshop (i.e. it's occurring without it running) feel free to reopen, otherwise I'm closing it as there's nothing we can do. |
