Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.63 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. We created various GPOs that have Managed BookMark settings in them since they need to be assigned to various OUs. 2. Assigned three to one OU. What is the expected behavior? That all three Managed Bookmarks would be showing in the same Managed Bookmarks dropdown. What went wrong? Only one GPOs Managed BookMark are showing. If I remove two of them the last one shows up. If I then re-engage the one that was previously working it works again but the other stops. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 51.0.2704.63 Channel: n/a OS Version: 7 Flash Version: Does Managed Bookmarks work with multiple GPOs assigned to a pc (OU)?

This happens because GPOs are read from the registry and Windows does not merge policies but rather overwrites conflicting ones. This is true for any other policy in Chrome too. I can see how merging policies from separate GPOs can be useful but can't say what the priority is. Reassigning to PMs to decide.

Moving to P3. This is a larger effort and not realistic for the current milestone.

I am closing this bug as obsolete for now because it's rather a limitation of the OS and the way policies are handled there. We were doing some manual policy files parsing in the past but this has proven to have its own set of issues so we would rather stick to the established behavior of the OS. With cloud policy coming along nicely it could be a nice feature of the Cloud policy admin interface to allow merging of some particular policy types. |
