The string has been shortened, and now reads "5:00 மணி நேரம்". Google translate says this means "5:00 hours". There's a request for clarification pending in b/29189729 about whether or not "remaining" is somehow implied by the Tamil string. A screenshot of the new string is attached. Also attached is a screenshot of the "Until full" message, which is also too long, and will need shortening. In English, this reads: 3:26 until full In Tamil, the current string is முழு சார்ஜ் ஆக 3:26 வரை உள்ளது which, according to Google Translate, translates to To become a full charge is up to 3:26 I've updated b/29189729 to request a shortening of this string as well. Also removing branch target, as this is an external dependency that we can't directly control.

The situation has improved with the new MD SysTray menu. Now if a string is too long, it is truncated with ... instead of extending into an adjacent element (see attached). Further, there is a hover-over tooltip, so the complete text can be read if desired. It would still be preferable to shorten translated strings, and if possible, move the time remaining to the front of the string so that at least that is visible (in the attached screenshot, the time "3:26" is too far into the string to be visible in the menu; it can only be seen in the tooltip). |
