Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.84 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Navigate to a website where you will have to scroll I used hexus.net 2. Scroll down to the middle or bottom of the page and middle mouse click on any link to open a new tab, but stay on hexus.net do not navigate to the new tab. 3. Attempt to scroll with two fingers on the touchpad on hexus.net Chromium should jump to the top of that page. What is the expected behavior? Chromium should NOT jump to the top of the page. The page should scroll normally from wherever the user currently is. What went wrong? Chromium jumps to the top of the page when attempting to scroll using the touchpad. This happens after opening a new tab with the middle mouse button. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 51.0.2704.84 Channel: stable OS Version: Debian 8.5 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0 - This behaviour is not present when right click and open in new tab menu button is used. It is only present with the middle mouse button is used to open a new link. - This behaviour is not present on the browser iceweasel 38.8

Tested this issue on Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome latest stable M51-51.0.2704.84. Observed no issues in scrolling and able to open the link in a new tab using middle click. max@ - Is this issue seen on incognito mode as well? Could you please recheck this issue by creating a new profile under chrome://settings with no apps or extensions in your browser. If issue still persists let us know on which device it's happening.

Yes the issue is there when using incognito mode as well. This is happening on a Dell Latitude E6440 laptop. I use two finger scroll on the touchpad and this issue occurs. I may attempt to connect a mouse to see if it persists with middle mouse button + scrollwheel scroll.

I have tried this using a mouse instead of the touchpad and the issue was not there. So it seems to be linked to the two finger scroll on the touchpad. This may be an issue with the touchpad however the issue is not present on firefox, only chromium.

I have this same issue with a Lenovo X220 running Ubuntu 16.04 (64-bit chrome 51.0.2704.84). The issue seems to happen when mixing two input devices. The buttons belong to the Trackpad (TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint), and the two-finger scrolling belongs to the Touchpad (SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad). If I click with the Touchpad buttons, the issue doesn't manifest itself. If I click with a USB mouse, the issue manifests itself. To reproduce, just go to any page where you can scroll, click with an input device that's not the touchpad, and do some two-finger scrolling.

Confirmed as well on 53.0.2756.0 dev (64-bit). Ubuntu Desktop 16.04 LTS. Comment #6 is a good starting point, and from one of the duplicated bug has better description IMHO (just added the 2 fingers scroll). Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Load a page which can scroll, go half way with 2 fingers scrolling. 2. Click anywhere on the page 3. Scroll again with 2 fingers scrolling What is the expected behavior? Normal scrolling behavior What went wrong? Page would inconsistently "bounce" in a random direction (mostly up), or would completely reset to the top of the page.

I reproduced this. I think it's a duplicate of issue 609748 . I'll dup into there and make sure the fix for that also fixes the repro here. |
