Switching Between Tabs Causes Page Content to Unload

Reported by silverma...@gmail.com, Jun 6 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/53.0.2760.0 Safari/537.36

Example URL:
(Any URL, especially those with large amounts of content)

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Load any webpage
2. Open a new tab and go to it
3. Return to the old tab, and the content will be unloaded. You'll simply see a large white screen (I see blue because it is my chrome theme color)

What is the expected behavior?
Pages should continue to be loaded when switching between tabs (unless there is some new element to chrome canary that I am not yet aware of.)

What went wrong?
See http://i.imgur.com/mI6OzkL.gifv for an example of me reproducing the issue live.

Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A

Did this work before? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? N/A

Chrome version: 53.0.2760.0 Channel: canary
OS Version: OS X 10.11.5
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

Oddly enough, links and other features of the page remain. For example, I click out of a Youtube video, then return to it, the entire page will be blank, but I can still click on the "video" that I can't see and it will play/pause. The same goes for weblinks, ets...

Another thing I noticed, just reloading the page will not fix the blank screen. The only way to fix it I've found is by closing the tab, then restoring it.
