Launching Chrome packaged app fails if its main window is initially hidden and Chrome is not running

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_5) AppleWebKit/601.6.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/9.1.1 Safari/601.6.17

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Install the attached demo Chrome app.
2. Quit Chrome.
3. Launch the demo Chrome app using e.g. OS X launchpad or Spotlight.

What is the expected behavior?
The demo Chrome app should be launched.

What went wrong?
The demo Chrome app fails to launch.
