Login page of ‘LastPass’ extension gets blank after reload action

Reported by dmascare...@etouch.net, Jun 2 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version:52.0.2743.24 Revision 334afe94883b731af3eacab708ac03ba796d5c5b-refs/branch-heads/2743@{#181} 32/64-bit.
OS: Windows (7, 8, 10), Mac (10.10.5)(10.11.4),Linux (ubuntu 14.04 LTS)

Test url:https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lastpass-free-password-ma/hdokiejnpimakedhajhdlcegeplioahd

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Launch chrome and navigate to above url.
2. Click on ‘Add to chrome’ and then right click on extension icon present in browser action container such that context menu appears.
3. Select ‘LassPass’ option (2nd option) from the context menu such that ‘Login’ page gets open and reload the page, observe.

Actual: Login page gets blank after reload it.
Expected: Page should not get blank.

This is regression issue, broken in ‘M 42’ and below is narrow bisect:

Bad build: 42.0.2280.0

This seems like a page rendering problem (or a last pass problem, given the very far back regression range), not an extension problem.

What do you mean 'Select LastPass option (2nd option)'? The second option for me is indeed "LastPass" but it's a sub-menu. Which sub-menu option did you select?

What's the 'login' page? Just any page where you want to use lastpass or does it only break on one particular page?

With response to comment #4:

Above issue is still reproducible on Latest Canary Version:54.0.2830.0 (Official Build)	b6678f521d7dd83c84e701140739cc3b47afe5d8-refs/heads/master@{#412124}

1. Select Sub-menu(i.e Second option in context menu) "LastPass" option and after clicking on "LassPass" login page will appear.
2. issue is seen for any web page and NTP also.

kindly refer the attached screencast for the reproducing above issue.

I reproduced the issue while looking at devtools. On the initial load of LastPass (which displays correctly) there is a "login dialog" div which is not present when the LastPass page is reloaded. Thus chrome appears to be rendering everything correctly.

So LastPass is doing something different on reload. There may be a chrome bug but it's impossible to tell without more detail on the exact logic on how LastPass is interacting with chrome. If we can get more details on that we can reopen the bug.
