Image with opacity 0 over itself looks different to self alone

Reported by rythesta...@gmail.com, Jun 2 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.63 Safari/537.36

Example URL:
http://diff.pics/apqMWsKunTYC/1

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Mouse over the image
2. images should look similar in terms of color
3. Browns become more orange, change in saturation?

What is the expected behavior?
No change in color

What went wrong?
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/174612

Comparison of what happens when I mouse over, just mouse over this image and it'll show you what I see. Also occurs exactly the same in Firefox with a blank profile and Chromium 53 too also with a blank profile, Edge displays it properly. Another computer which has my profile synced to it does not have this issue. At a loss as to what could be causing it. I've disabled all resident programs on this PC with no change.

Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A

Is it a problem with a plugin? No

Did this work before? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? No Firefox but not Edge

Chrome version: 51.0.2704.63 Channel: beta
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0

Unable to reproduce the issue on win8.1 chrome version 51.0.2704.84 - No change in color on mouse over

Could you please upgrade to latest stable and with a fresh profile try the same and update your observations. You can create a new profile from chrome://settings
No change. Downloaded latest stable of Chromium without sync. Deleted Person 1. Went to http://diff.pics/apqMWsKunTYC/1 and did mouse over image and the color changes as seen in the screenshotcomparison link.
This is also happening for me with Opera and Pale Moon. It's something specific to this system obviously but for whatever reason MS Edge doesn't do it. My first thought was that it might be somehow related to my monitor calibration but I disabled the calibration loader with no effect.

This also occurs under Safe Mode.

Components: -Blink>Forms>Color Blink>Image
Components: -UI
Summary: Image with opacity 0 over itself looks different to self alone (was: Colors changing on mouse over)
The page is constructed with a div that has a background image, and that div contains the same image in an img tag with hover set to make the img opacity 0. The issue then is differences in how the image looks when a supposedly totally transparent image is rendered on top.

Now we can't reproduce this at all, suggesting it is something odd about your system's handling of image compositing.

rythestampede@, could you please go to chrome://gpu and paste the content of that page into this bug report.
I'm aware it's something specific to this PC and a fresh profile doesn't help. Other screen comparisons I've looked at on the same site don't appear to change the colors at all, I have no idea what's going on only that Edge doesn't exhibit this same effect.

GpuProcessHostUIShim: The GPU process exited normally. Everything is okay.
Not sure if the result of the anniversary update to 10 or the deletion of the Intel graphics driver I had loaded and a reinstall from Windows update or what but this is no longer changing colors any more.
Could you confirm that there's nothing for us to fix now? The driver change or system update fixed it for you?
