Flickering on some pages like Google Maps

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Dear all, 

I experience a weird flickering on some pages such as Google Maps.

I've attached one example screencast to demonstrate the exact problem of flickering and how it manifests.

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
Is someone able to reproduce the problem?

I'm using the latest version of Chromium on Ubuntu 16.04 on a Thinkpad X230 with an Intel graphics card.

Thanks for your comment!

I think the easiest way to reproduce the problem is to go on Facebook.com, view a photo, and then use the arrow keys to navigate through the photos. 

This produces flickering on my Thinkpad X230. 

By the way, I managed to get rid of the flickering by launching Chromium as follows:

chromium-browser --disable-gpu-driver-bug-workarounds --enable-native-gpu-memory-buffers %U

Does that help?

Hi, I'm sorry there was no progress on this issue since June.  Could you confirm if the flickering is still happening on newer versions of Chrome?
