Removing DisplayLink 3.0 docking station causes managed wallpaper to disappear

Issue description

Chrome Version: 52.0.2717.5 dev
OS Version: 8249.2.0
Firmware: Google_lulu.6301.136.57
URLs (if applicable) :

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Chromebook is connected to DL3.0 Docking Station (Dell D3100, connected to 2 Dell u2412M displays) 
2. Unplugging the USB cable causes the (managed) wallpaper to disappear and replaced by the default Dell Carbon wallpaper

What is the expected result?
- Managed wallpaper should remain the managed wallpaper

What happens instead of that?
- Default Dell wallpaper is shown

I remember a similar bug that caused managed wallpaper to get lost (unrelated to DisplayLink). Wallpaper code seems to refresh often.
