Not possible to search multiple line content in chrome after recent update

Project Member Reported by coli@google.com, May 30 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version: <From about:version: Version 51.0.2704.63 (64-bit)>
<b>Chrome OS Version: <From about:version: Platform x.x.x.x></b>
<b>Chrome OS Platform: <Make/model of computer running Chrome OS></b>
<b>Network info: <network, encryption type, router model (if known)></b>

Please specify Cr-* of the system to which this bug/feature applies (add
the label below).

Steps To Reproduce:
(1) Open any page. Copy any two lines.
(2) Search and copy those two lines into the search box
(3) No result found because backspace has been coded into different char, I guess, in the search box.

Expected Result:
Two lines found because the content was copied directly in this page.

Actual Result:
No result found.

How frequently does this problem reproduce? (Always, sometimes, hard to
reproduce?)
Always.

What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? If so, what is
it?
Might be big impact in internal usage. I found it when using code search and search two line code in current page but found nothing.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screen shot or
log if possible.
The behavior must have been changed in recent update. Because I am relying on the behavior in my everyday work.

Reporter, what do you mean by "Search and copy those two lines into the search box"? Can you be really specific about precisely what you're doing and which box you're putting stuff into? For example, "search" could mean "go to google.com" and "copy into the search box" mean "paste into the search box on that site", or the "search box" could be the Chrome omnibox, and you could be talking about pasting there, or maybe "search" means using right-click -> Search Google for XXX. Etc.
