Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.63 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Update Chrome 2. 3. What is the expected behavior? Everything should keep on working properly What went wrong? After Chrome updated, I got a message box saying: "Your profile could not be opened correctly. Some features may be unavailable. Please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write its contents." Obviously the profile existed before the update, but then mysteriously disappeared afterwards. I don't know how to check that the profile exists. I first experienced this several (perhaps 4 or 5?) updates ago, using 'Report an issue', but don't know how to see whether anything was followed up on. Hence this report. If I remember correctly, the first time it happened I relaunched Chrome several days later and it was ok. I will try that after I finish this, but didn't want to lose the message box - especially since it didn't allow me to copy the text. Had to manually type it (well worth fixing!). Main symptom is that my personalized tabs on the New Tab page are now missing. It also appears as though History is missing - it simply keeps showing the 'waiting' icon. Did this work before? Yes up until several updates ago - perhaps 4 or 5? Chrome version: 51.0.2704.63 Channel: stable OS Version: 8.1 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0

Just a note: this hasn't happened to me for quite a while now. I did have an annoying 'update loop' ( issue 622097 ) with update 51.0.2704.84, but that finally managed to fix itself when the most recent update installed itself (51.0.2704.106).

This happened again today, after update to Version 52.0.2743.116. Lost quite a few windows and tabs (via Session Buddy counts). Will try exiting Chrome and restarting to see whether that fixes it.
