Issue descriptionChrome Version : 51.0.2704.63 OS Version: Ubuntu 14.04 This is for the extension icons in the menu, don't know what this feature is called exactly. In M51, the background color is now the default highlight color as for the rest of the menu (orange in Ubuntu). Please compare to how it was previously. In the menu itself the font color switches from black to white when selected, so it's fine, whereas Chrome cannot change the icons.

I've come to the conclusion that it's probably not a bug.

it's about the way we prelight extension badges in the app menu. Probably a wontfix, but over to varkha for triage.
