material design search cannot be closed with escape

Chrome Version       : 51.0.2704.63
OS Version: Ubuntu 14.04

It used to be that pressing ESC closes search, it doesn't now. Only clicking X does. Also, it's slightly misaligned towards the top. Could be on purpose.

Summary: material design search cannot be closed with escape (was: material design search cannot be closed with escape, slightly misaligned)
Pressing escape works for me on Windows.  Maybe this is Linux-only?  Are you sure the textfield had focus at the time?

The alignment is as designed.
