can you try it
1. on a M device using same Webview version
if fails,
2. On a M device using an earlier stable Webview version
3. Using chrome

sgurun@

1. Nexus 6 MOB30M with 51.0.2704.56 - able to reproduce
2. Nexus 6 MOB30M with 50.0.2661.86 - able to reproduce
3. Using Chrome - unable to reproduce
hmm... probably issue 552339 is related? currently we do not change alignment based on the keyboard nor the text by design. on desktop we have an option to change the direction.

oh, does chrome detect the direction? I didn't know.

amaralp@, are you actively working on issue 552339? could you investigate this?

Hmm, I assume Chrome is just http://mail.yahoo.com/, which is a completely different thing. It's almost certainly just that JS on the web version of Yahoo Mail specifies 'dir=auto' (which autodetects: https://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-html-dir#dirauto), whereas the Yahoo Mail app just left the default value of dir=ltr. Closing as author bug.

As for the menu item to manual switch, I'm not sure whether or not we should consider it in scope to add to WebView, since it's a kind of useragent aid that might go against the high manual control WebView apps typically want. I'd probably default to not having it in WebView unless there user demand.

thanks for looking at this.

removing RVG. no need for that. Build numbers are not hidden, if the intent is to hide it (build number is part of UA after all).

As for the menu item agreed. I think platform should find a way to provide a common way for all views. Apps obviously are more flexible.
