Regression: Browser crash is observed on Gmail chat window while copy/pasting

Chrome Version:53.0.2749.0 (Official Build)d69647a96ab9567614091a939be30e8a4330ba25-refs/heads/master@{#396053} 32/64 bit
OS: Mac (10.10.5, 10.11.4)


What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Launch chrome and sign in browser with valid credential.
2. Navigate to https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox and open any chat window.
3. Select any message from chat window and try to copy/paste,observe.

Actual: Browser crash is observed on Gmail chat window while copy/pasting
Expected: Browser should not crash.

Crash id:Crash ID 1828ea1a00000000 (d213cc4f-7e98-4c83-9b8a-9f501e58a6a4)

This is regression issue, broken in ‘M 53’ and will soon update the info.

Above issue is also reproducible by following steps:
1. Launch chrome and navigate to http://omahaproxy.appspot.com/
2. Select any version value from the table and press 'Ctrl+C',Observe.

Narrow bisect:

I don't think this crash is caused by r396043:

8a8aadd (53.0.2749.0) - bad (crash repros)
28b27bc^ (before suspected CL) - good (no crash)
28b27bc (the suspected CL) - good (no crash)

Let me try bisecting this further.

It seems that there is only 1 suspect left - I've confirmed that the crash starts to repro with r396044
