[webview] Click on email address/body of yahoo mail does nothing

Issue description


Device name: Galaxy St/ATT/MMB29M
WebView version : 52.
Application: Webview : 52.0.2743.8
WebView version (from system settings -> Apps -> Android System WebView):
Application: Yahoo mail / Version : 5.5.31318364

URLs (if applicable):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.mail&hl=en


Steps to reproduce:
(1) Download and install yahoo mail
(2) Launch and sing yahoo mail > Select an email/body which has the email address > Try to click on the email id.

Expected result:
When email is clicked, should open the compose window/activity


Actual result:
Does nothing

Additional info:-
-Repro/Always  on all the devices
-Same email/body clicking on gmail works fine

my instinct tells me this is not really a webview bug. The yahoo mail app has full control of what to do when a user taps on an email address.

Are you sure this used to work on older versions of webview?

Yes, for this and similar bugs, test team should test with an earlier stable WebView first. 
Something similar to b/27547367 ?

Not really similar to that (which was about keyboards).
Anyway, can you test earlier versions of WebView?
This is probably not OS specific. So you can even use very old Android version like L-mr1
I'm seeing this issue on older webview as well - non regression

must be something in the app

maybe they swallowed the touch event (unlikely), or swallowed the intent into composing an email (more likely)
