component:UI>Browser Cherome "Print using system dialog" with range fails on Chrome

Project Member Reported by soushi@chromium.org, May 25 2016

Issue description

Version of Google Chrome (Wrench-> About Google Chrome): 50.0.2661.94m
Version of MSI (if applicable): ~
Using group policy settings? ~

[Issue Description]
Customer is unable to print when using "Print using system dialog" option and selecting pages such as P - Pmax, e.g. 2-4 or 3-4.

For example,
- P > 1
- Pmax > P (Pmax can be the maximum page number)

*Tested with a printer*
nothing happened on the printer.

*Tested with XPS writer*
some sort of a corrupted .xps (could not open) has been created.

This issue only occurs on Chrome browser for Windows.
I have tested on 50.0.2661.102 on OS X with USB-connected printer, but it's not reproducible.

[Expected Behavior]
Being able to print from the system dialog and by selecting the printed page range.

[Actual Behavior]
Cannot print when using the system dialog and selecting a printed page range.
The print job remains in the spooler as "Spooling" status.

[Repro Steps]
1. Open a file in Preview (e.g. attachments in Gmail)
2. In the preview page, click at the printer icon at the top of the screen.
3. Click on "Print using system dialog".
4. Inside the dialog pop up, select pages to print P - Pn, e.g. 2-4.
(This issue does not occur when the printing selection is set to ALL)
5. Click on Print to see that nothing happens.

[Reproducible]
Chrome on Windwos 7 Starter 32 bit
Chrome on Windows 7 Professional SP1 32bit
Chrome _windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit (16GB RAM)

[Not reproducible]
Chrome OS X 10.11.5
IE

[Affecting all devices? All users?]

According to the chrome_debug.log, there are these lines:

[3664:2488:0518/102200:VERBOSE1:print_preview_handler.cc(861)] Print preview request start
[3664:2488:0518/102201:WARNING:oom_memory_details.cc(46)] Tab Discards Memory details (395 ms):

Does these events cause this issue?

Hey,

I have an enterprise customer affected with this. Exact same as you described above. Also can confirm it affects XP.

Looks like a windows-only printing issue.

Is this a duplicate of bug 553446 ? Can you try Chrome 54.0.2839.0 or newer in a day or two and check?
