Custom column ordering network panel

Reported by ch...@anthum.com, May 23 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version : 50-53
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you
have tested this issue:
     Safari:
    Firefox:
         IE:

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Open Network tab in DevTools and open a page
(2) Drag any column header (e.g. Name, Status, Type) left/right
(3)

What is the expected result?

Columns should move left or right to allow for users to explicitly order the column list. For example, I should be able to move "Cache-Control" column and place between "Name" and "Status" columns

What happens instead?

Nothing. Columns are resizable, and right-click menu allows to show/hide columns, but not reorder them.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

@pbakaus We discussed this at I/O 2016 during the Chrome Office Hours and you recommended that I file this bug. While show/hide of columns is useful, it's not as powerful and fast as the ability to reorder columns, especially when using a narrow window. I often write custom server-side caching rules and like to quickly monitor browser loads

I saw that issue 540569 was resolved. Would it be possible to have this picked-up again?

Hi Chris, there are a few things in front of this that are more important to land, but a rough estimate would be Q1 to Q2 of next year in Canary, but don't hold your breath, things change around here frequently. This is definitely something we want to do and with the new structure of columns it should be much easier.

Awesome, thanks for the update and for considering this feature.
