Add DPI to the Chrome print dialog on CUPS systems |
||||
Issue descriptionDescription: Add dpi options to the Chrome print dialog so it's configurable directly from Chrome. Use case: If a user wants higher quality printouts, it should be available from Chrome. Motivation: Cloud Print already supports this so there's not too much to do to enable it for the CUPS platforms (Linux and Mac). Printing at lower quality can also be faster and use less ink. Higher quality sometimes looks better. Existing workarounds: Print from system dialog

There are actually two separately configurable job attributes here. From the IPP 1.1 standards doc: "4.2.13 print-quality (type2 enum)" and "4.2.13 print-quality (type2 enum)". https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2911

print-quality can be draft, normal or high printer-resolution is a dpi value e.g. 600dpi, 1200x600dpi, etc.

In comment 2, I think you meant to say "4.2.12 printer-resolution (resolution)" in addition to print-quality. So is this bug for resolution, quality, or both?

That is what I meant to say. I'll open a different bug for printer-resolution. I've also updated the summary.

Bug has been split. Quality now explicitly tracked in crbug.com/702003 |
