There is a link with a screencast in my bug report. But here it is again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_jPatd_CgA I'm on Macbook pro without a dedicated GPU.

I tried this with (now stable) M52.0.2743.82 on a Mac Pro, admittedly a beastly machine, but it seems to be buttery smooth. Could someone who saw this issue previously give it another try and report back?

Oh, and if it is still occurring, a perf trace would be very helpful: https://www.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/submitting-a-performance-bug

I'm on 54.0.2803.0 canary (64-bit) and it works great on my rMBP with an integrated GPU. I'd say this can be closed.
