Brightcove video player causing loop in emulated Apple devices

Reported by perry.dy...@seatwave.com, May 17 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/50.0.2661.102 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
This works

1. Open in Chrome Version 50.0.2661.102 m
2. Open Dev Tools
3. Select Network tab
4. load http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/htmlFederated?&width=100%25&height=100%25&flashID=myExperience928199562001&identifierClassName=BrightcoveExperienceID_4831&bgcolor=%23FFFFFF&playerID=4621113004001&playerKey=AQ~~%2CAAAEJs8ccQE~%2Ck7XLGvSRHAfw-NcMDgL1GCIU51GdUqOf&isVid=true&isUI=false&dynamicStreaming=true&%40videoPlayer=4847087061001&includeAPI=true&templateLoadHandler=onBrightcoveTemplateLoaded&templateReadyHandler=onBrightcoveTemplateReady&autoStart=&debuggerID=&startTime=1463166444215&refURL=not%20availabl

5. Switch to an android device mode (Galaxy S5) and repeat and this also works (noting that the Brightcove player returns “The video you are trying to watch is currently unavailable….” message

6. Switch to an Apple based device and repeat and a loop is produced giving a 404 and in some cases an error BrightcovePlayer_api_ad.js:415 Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The element has no supported sources

What is the expected behavior?
When in desktop browser mode - video to be loaded and playable

When in emulated browser mode - video to be loaded but not playable giving a the “The video you are trying to watch is currently unavailable….” message

What went wrong?
Brightcove say that emulated browsers are not supported by their player. I can accept that the video player may not work - and give the “The video you are trying to watch is currently unavailable….” message but sending the emulated browser into a loop shouldn't happen.

Brightcove will not investigate further.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 50.0.2661.102 Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0

I have raised this at the request of Ilya Gregorik as I think he'd like to confirm that this isn't a problem with the emulation itself.
