Issue description

App Version: 51.0.2704.43 beta (Testflight version)
iOS Version: 9.2.1
Device: iPhone6 plus
URL: youtube.com

Precondition: Have Youtube app installed and sign in with any test account.

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Launch Google Chrome

  3. Open a new tab and goto youtube.com
  4. Tap on Subscriptions tab
  5. Tap on the circular icons that takes you to the channel page

I think this is YouTube opening a URL using Chrome.

Comment 4 by pkl@chromium.org, May 16 2016

Inside YouTube app, under Settings, there's an option for "Open links with Chrome" which is toggle to ON. Can you try with this toggle set to OFF?

I did that. Turned off the settings "Open links with Chrome". Now it is redirecting to the same page on Safari browser.
Tried after force quitting Chrome, Youtube and Safari, behavior is still the same.

Peter, any good news here?

I updated YT app (released on 7/25) on my phone and cannot repro the problem.

srikanthg@ - Can you give it a try?
I can still reproduce this issue based on my steps in original report.
With Youtube App version 11.28.11, "Open links with chrome" in Settings was removed.
With that setting removed, new behavior i see is similar to what I have mentioned in comment#5.

I've file a new bug http://b/30710843 because the behavior has changed.
Chrome launches YouTube app which then launched Safari.

This is not a problem that can be addressed in Chrome. I'm changing this to External Dependency and removing milestone. Please ping me if you disagree.

Obsolete. Issue 710069 removed Native App Launcher for YouTube.
