Assigning to @lushnikov for any further triage here.

cc Pavel as well since he is interested in functionality that aligns with other tooling.
Summary: DevTools: Auto-complete in element className input (was: Auto-complete class name in dev tools)
Can you provide an example? Historically classnames are fairly unique, but I guess you're using a BEM style?

So, let's say you have Twitter Bootstrap loaded.

When you type `b` in the "Element Classes" dialog ("Add new class"), you get an autocomplete of the name with "btn, btn-small,...'. Best thing would be to fuzzy match the thing but simple autocomplete would already be nice. Also, you can use the same system in the 'New Style Rule' thing (or when you edit an already existing one), if you type "." then the class autocomplete comes in play.

It's nice with BEM but with most naming styles I think.

The most incredible long-term thing would be to make the dev tools a chrome extension so people can fork it and provide alternatives.

Do you want autocomplete to show classes which are already on the page?
That would be nice too but it could be a second step (if you're asking me, not paul)
So which classes would you like to see in suggestions? Heuristic names would not work for majority of the users.
No heuristic names, you just the class names from the current page: Both from the styles (.css and <style> tags) in the page and the class names of the tags. I can make some mockups/prototype if you want it to be more clear.
