frecon related, passing to dbehr@chromium.org. Quick lines from the log I saw: On boot, we have a few of the following (not sure if it related): 2016-05-12T18:49:45.867657+00:00 WARNING kernel: [ 0.164254] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 1 at /mnt/host/source/src/third_party/kernel/v3.18/drivers/base/power/common.c:156 dev_pm_domain_set+0x58/0x5b() 2016-05-12T18:49:45.867660+00:00 WARNING kernel: [ 0.164257] PM domains can only be changed for unbound devices There were quite some of similar lines like the following in all boots: 2016-05-12T18:49:45.870029+00:00 WARNING kernel: [ 2.869907] frecon: Skipping duplicate input device /dev/input/event0 2016-05-12T18:49:45.889150+00:00 WARNING kernel: [ 2.920099] frecon: Skipping duplicate input device /dev/input/event2 ... The 2nd boot is shutdown uncleaned. The 3rd boot, I saw 2016-05-12T12:18:05.472233-07:00 WARNING kernel: [ 34.789377] frecon: Unable to set crtc: Invalid argument But no frecon lines other than the "Skipping duplicate input device" ones.

I saw same problem on my handy Celes, as well as the kernel log pattern, I tried w/ R50-7978.76.0, R52-8337.1.0, local build chromium-os images; however I also noticed that it affects guest and 2nd signed in user, while 1st signed in account, I could switch in and out, once signed out, I cannot switch any more.

Had some dichotomy: R50 7942.0.0: 2016-02-20: safe R51 8121.0.0: 2016-03-28: safe R51 8172.5.0: 2016-04-18: bad
