[Media Router] Pass joinable route ids via MediaRoutesObserver for an empty media source |
||||||||
Issue descriptionRight now we pass an empty list of joinable route ids to a MediaSinksObserver constructed with an empty media source. Instead, we could pass all routes that are joinable via MediaRouter::JoinRoute() to make the join route shortcut optimization more precise. We would need to ensure the logic in MediaRouterUI ignores these route ids when there is no default presentation URL set for the page. This would require an MRPM change, and backwards compatibility in Chrome until it fully rolled out. See: crbug.com/610797

It seems like we can simplify the joinRoute logic considerably with the Cast MRP upstreaming. Assigning to imcheng@ for his consideration.

We're getting rid of the Join feature in the Media Router UX, which means we will no longer have a use for joinable route IDs. Its removal is tracked in bug 882481. |
