Repeated calls to canOpenURL:

Project Member Reported by noyau@chromium.org, May 12 2016

Issue description

When I launch chrome I see the following in the console:

2016-05-12 14:52:52.434 Chromium[11198:1696467] -canOpenURL: failed for URL: <some google app related url>

This is repeated hundreds of times. As iOS 9 doesn't allow any app to retrieve information from this API there is really no reason whatsoever to call it. Can it be removed? It can only help startup time…

iOS 9 does allow apps to retrieve information about white listed apps.
Pretty sure we already filed a radar about the canOpenURL spam.

If it doesn't work, we should not call it… Radar aside. I don't think Apple is going to reverse its decision.

The call to -canOpenURL: "works as intended" for whitelisted URL schemes (except/including the log-spam which is what I've filed a radar for).
