Chrome does not delete disk cache directory during uninstall |

Issue descriptionVersion: 52.0.2730.0 (Build from source) OS: Windows 8.1 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Install chrome (2) Set DiskCacheDir group policy. key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\ value: name: DiskCacheDir, type: REG_SZ, Data: C:\DiskCache (3) Launch Chrome to generate some cache. (4) Delete Chrome with option 'Also delete your browsing data' checked. What is the expected output? Disk cache directory is deleted with user data directory during uninstall. What do you see instead? Disk cache directory is not deleted.

I'm not sure it's worth trying to anything here if the supported way of configuring this is via policy. Config by policy is largely done by enterprise, which use system-level installs. Uninstalling a system-level install doesn't remove any user data since it's not feasible for Chrome's uninstaller to operate on individual user profile directories. We can reconsider if setting the cache dir is extensively used for per-user installs. |
