MD history: "Open tabs" could be renamed to "Synced tabs" |
|||
Issue descriptionIn MD history, the sidebar has two choices: "History" and "Open tabs". The phrasing "Open tabs" isn't really indicative of what it contains: it could be misinterpreted as either a) "The tabs you currently have open (on this device)" which seems silly because I can already see them, or b) A verb; a button to open a new tab (perhaps show the new tab page). I think it should read "Other devices", to indicate that this is where you go to see the state of Chrome on your other devices (that it shows the open tabs on those devices is not that important). While on this subject, "Open tabs" should really have its own URL (like all of the dialogs in chrome://settings) so that a user can bookmark or navigate directly to that tab. Such as chrome://history/devices.

Open tabs is an implementation bug. "Synced tabs" is the language we should use per UI review's feedback. (renaming this bug to reflect that, please) We deliberated with "other devices" but it didn't explicitly communicate "tabs", "open tabs" was too ambiguous, and anything was too verbose. Re: URL This isn't something we've actively addressed in history but I totally agree: chrome://history/syncedtabs
