I'm using 50.0.2661.94 Linux dev.
I noticed this comment about corrections in the omnibox searching instead of navigating for "short" intranet URLs with no dots:
https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/d/msg/chromium-discuss/ikrHMuQyeyw/_RUXxdv3AwAJ
I did notice some weirdness around the omnibox deciding whether a URL should be a search or a navigation.
Type:
asdf (defaults to search)
asdf/ (defaults to navigation)
asdf/asd (defaults to navigation)
asdf/asdf (defaults to navigation and immediately switches to search)
I think at this point we're responding to something the server is saying about the URL (I presume search suggest has a hit for this). This is annoying in this case but understandable. So I try another string:
asdf/hqhq (defaults to navigate)
asdf/hqhq/ (defaults to navigate)
asdf/hqhq/s (defaults to search and immediately flips back to navigate)
asdf/hqhq/ss (defaults to navigate)
asdf/hqhq/sss (defaults to navigate)
[backspace one]
asdf/hqhq/ss (defaults to search (!))
Another weird case: Paste in the URL from the user in the above thread:
bld-team03/all/IncrementalBuild (defaults to search)
[type any letter]
bld-team03/all/IncrementalBuilda (defaults to navigate)
[backspace any number of times]
bld-team03/all/IncrementalBuil (defaults to search)
It seems that pasting and typing here lead to different defaults.
