This logic is almost certainly an issue with the site and not chrome. In particular, I can get to web.whatsapp.com if I do RDS on a tab. But then if I reload it always redirects to www.whatsapp.com. aelias@ has done some work with RDS recently, but I'm doubtful this is something we can solve in chrome.

This issue doesn't exists in other browsers like firefox, opera etc., on android. Infact issue is not present on older versions of chrome, I used to connect to whatsapp on chrome without any problem until these recent updates.
