Issue descriptionWebKit supports this: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142384 which means you can animate a clip path without repaint on every frame.

This would require the compositor to support clip path on composited layers. Feel free to WontFix it, because I don't think we'll add support for this. It would have the side effect of getting rid of mask layers for border radius. I suppose you could implement general clip paths with masks too, and we have a TODO for that in CompositedLayerMapping::OwningLayerClippedOrMaskedByLayerNotAboveCompositedAncestor.
