OS: Chrome

Report from user:
  I'm formatting a removable harddrive.  When I do a message pops up "The 
  formatting might take a couple of seconds.  Please wait".  And the 
  message after a few seconds disappears.  If I then pull the plug on the 
  drive, it will complain that it hadn't finished formatting.

  There needs to be a stronger visual indication that something is 
  happening.

The current message is adequate if formatting is very quick, but longer operations really need a better progress message.
