From that thread, for more context on how these are used:
"These aren't used in the product anywhere. From what I understand there have
been requests by people to get the source files for Chromium's logo. Having them
checked in might make things easier."

ebrahim@ do you have any use for these things or know who uses them?
+sgabriel@ who provided the raster assets here: bug 513399
+sail@ why are these .ai and not, say, .svg?

ha!

I wanted to use it for Wikipedia entry of Chromium so an official SVG version would be nice.

I feel like we should keep this on a website and not in the repo. If all you want is the chromium logo (not logo + text), I can attach one here, but for some reason it's not hosted publicly AFAICT. (You can get pngs: https://www.gstatic.com/images/branding/product/1x/chrome_chromium_48dp.png )

Sebastien, is there any reason we don't host the svg publicly (or do we? I'm unable to find a URL), or any reason I can't attach one here?

Of course a vector version is what we prefer on Wikipedia, we have raster one already and has issues like poor rendering at HiDPI.
