Security: Random restart, iTerm2 missing

Reported by chris.ci...@formativelearning.com, Apr 26 2016

Issue description

VULNERABILITY DETAILS

My Mac (OS X 10.9.5) with Chrome 50 crashed on a page reload. On restart I was requested if I wanted to submit the bug to Apple. The exception mentioned "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: Google Chrome".

I would not have been extra concerned except that I am now missing iTerm2.app.

I verified the disk and there are not any problems.

Maybe it is a long shot... but it is a strange coincidence that the iTerm2.app is missing after the crash and the disk does not have any corruption.

VERSION
Chrome Version: 50 stable
Operating System: OS X 10.9.5 updated

REPRODUCTION CASE
I cannot recreate the problem

This is not a security issue with Chrome, so dropping it from that queue.

I also doubt that Chrome is somehow responsible for removing iTerm from your machine.
I understand that it is a long shot.

Considering that it is the first time I experienced a complete reset of my machine in the last 6 months, I was wondering if that could be related to a WebGL vulnerability that could enable arbitrary code execution and iTerm2 may be deleted because of a bug in the coded injected.

I reinstalled version 2.1.1 of iTerm2 that I had downloaded. I also downloaded Chrome 50 from Firefox and manually installed it.
Thank you for taking a look at this.

I also see that you had a kernel panic - sounds like a hardware issue.
