[Mac OS X] Chrome Remote Desktop Host v50.0.2661.22 package signing issue

Reported by jbm.li...@gmail.com, Apr 22 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/50.0.2661.86 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Attempt to install the "Chrome Remote Desktop Host" package within the DMG image.

2. Finder gets stuck attempting to verify the package (see https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/6ftuyPHzgbU for a screenshot).

What is the expected behavior?
Installer should start promptly.

What went wrong?
Package file might not have been signed properly, leading to Mac OS X Gatekeeper subystem to refuse to install it:

17:23% spctl -a -v /Volumes/Chrome\ Remote\ Desktop\ Host\ 50.0.2661.22/Chrome\ Remote\ Desktop\ Host.pkg
/Volumes/Chrome Remote Desktop Host 50.0.2661.22/Chrome Remote Desktop Host.pkg: rejected
source=no usable signature

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 50.0.2661.86  Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.11.4
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0

Actually, the relevant spctl(1) output is more likely to be the following:

18:41% spctl -vv --assess --type install /Volumes/Chrome\ Remote\ Desktop\ Host\ 50.0.2661.22/Chrome\ Remote\ Desktop\ Host.pkg
/Volumes/Chrome Remote Desktop Host 50.0.2661.22/Chrome Remote Desktop Host.pkg: accepted
source=Developer ID
origin=Developer ID Installer: Google Inc.

I suspect that command would return something different on a system where the package has not been whitelisted for an exception but I don't know for sure.

I've been able to reproduce the issue of the Installer being stuck with a "Verifying "Chrome Remote Desktop Host.pkg" message, despite the package being assessed as accepted for installation (see attached screenshot).

Consequently, this is most likely not a code signing issue as originally suspected.

Nevermind, that seems to be a Mac OS X issue and not related to the package itself, see https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/chrome/6ftuyPHzgbU/ekQ53kA9AgAJ and https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/chrome/6ftuyPHzgbU/BLSzvI0-AgAJ

This issue can be closed.
