Thanks for the report!
I was not able to reproduce with 52.0.2714.0 (Developer Build) (64-bit) on Linux. What version are you using? Could you also open chrome://password-manager-internals/ in a second tab during logging in and share the contents?

(I'm replacing the Cc with the correct component, we'll still hear you, just through subscriptions.)
I attach the log from chrome://password-manager-internals. I am running Chrome 49.0.2623.112 (64-bit). I'll try to update Chrome now and see if this helps.

Now I am running 50.0.2661.86 (64-bit), but the password is still not offered to be saved. I'd rather avoid switching channels, but if necessary can do so. Please let me know if you need me to do so.

Thanks for the answers and logs!

The logs say: "Message: Saving disabled".
Please check your settings and let me know if it was indeed disabled or if the issue is elsewhere.

Thanks!
Looks like, it's not disabled for webchat.freenode.net.

Now you lost me :), so is it working for webchat.freenode.net, or is it not?
I'm also happy to come and have a look at your computer, feel free to ping me.
Cheers,
Vaclav

Having checked with the reporter and indeed the password manager was off. Once turned on, saving worked. Here the behaviour is already confusing, because currently the password manager will still fill, but not save, if it is off. This is being changed, though.

However, once the password was saved, Chrome did not manage to fill it. I filed bug 606736 for that.
