WebVTT cues with descending chars are badly cropped |
||||||||||
Issue description
Repro steps:
1. Attach a webvtt file to a track in an HTMLMediaElement. Ensure the track has at least one multiline cue for the media containing lower-case 'g' or other characters/diacritics with descending portions. Multi-line cues appear to be required to repro this (at least for 'g' character cropping.)
2. Observe how the cue is rendered.
Expected: Cue is fully shown.
Actual: the lower portion of the 'g' is chopped off.
I've attached test.{html,vtt,webm} which demonstrates this issue.
I've also attached an image of what it looks like in current ToT.

I'm afraid I don't have time to dig deeply into this at the moment, but zooming in on the screenshot, it looks like it's the second line that overlaps the first line. This is similar to issue 397887 where it the problem was described as "there is a horizontal band which is darker or lighter than the surrounding background". See comment 6 and 13 for my take on it: we need to figure out if it's possible to guarantee perfect line alignment using CSS, and then use that for WebVTT.

Agreed, this is the same as 397887, which got closed for a lack of activity, but is still an issue.

Renamed Blink>Text>Track to Blink>Media>Track. Moving these bugs to the new component.
