Which tablet are you seeing this issue on? We have disabled toolbar auto-hide for tablets 10 inches and bigger since M48.

(Copying my post from the chrome help forum because nothing has changed:) I've also been having this problem. I downloaded Chrome Beta after Chrome stopped doing full screen and full screen worked on Beta for a few hours before it stopped too. It's been doing this on every website. I'm running the latest version of Chrome, Android 5.0.2, the about section in my device settings lists my model as SM-T700, it's a Samsung galaxy tab S 8.4.

I cannot understand the reason to disable this function in +10inches screen tablets. It is very useful, if this function is not restored I will have to use any other webbrowser, almost all have this function.

How this feature was removed on 10.1 tablets? Is that the real reason? Cause the problem doesn’t happen right after installation. The omnibox disappears when we scroll down. Only when chrome activity is killed, and on the next app launching, the omnibox remains displayed. So that is a bug regarding the two different behaviors

I hit this issue randomly on M52 - 52.0.2718.0 / Samsung S4 Mini / 4.4.2. It started working fine after I switched tabs. I will update here if I find consistent repro steps. Logs and demo @ http://go/chrome-androidlogs1/6/604172

Re #8 - That's expected due to how the feature was rolled out to users (unless the toolbar disappears every other time Chrome is started.. that would be odd). Once the toolbar stops disappearing, it should stay in that state unless app data is cleared. Starting in M52 that will change. Closing this as Won't Fix - it's working as intended. askatte@ - please open a separate bug if you get consistent repro steps on the Samsung S4 mini. It's expected that the toolbar still auto-hides on smaller devices.

This is still not working as it should. The omnibar should either autohide, or there needs to be a way to hide it, like the hotkey on chromebooks.

We heard your feedback and decided to go back to the old behavior. You should see this change sometime in the next few days after a cold restart (remove Chrome from Android recents and restart).
