Chrome 49 and above is unusable with vmware horizon html5 client on all platforms

Reported by josh.gr...@gmail.com, Apr 16 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/49.0.2623.112 Safari/537.36

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Start Horizon virtual desktop session
2. Attempt to use desktop normally
3. Become disconnected after a short period of time (around 5 minutes) and have to restart session from scratch

What is the expected behavior?
Virtual desktop session should be usable without frequent disconnects.

What went wrong?
Frequent disconnects (around 5 minute intervals) make this app pretty unusable for current versions of Chrome

Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A

Did this work before? Yes Chrome 48 and lower

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 49.0.2623.112 Channel: stable
OS Version:
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0

NOTE: This is NOT a report about the Horizon app from the web store. VMWare's version is VMWare Blast 1.0.0-1045852 build 1045852

I realize this is hard to be overly specific, and that most people won't have a vmware horizon VDI to work with, however this is a serious regression that affects chrome 49 on windows, osx, chromeos, linux, and chromium built from source. I'll try to give as much information as I can to help diagnose.

The ChromeOS update to 49 is when I first started to hit this issue. I was able to use ChromsOS's powerwash+revert to knock back to the previous build, but this is delicate and not maintainable.

On Linux, I have manually installed chromium 48.0.2564.116 to maintain functionality.

Javascript console is not very helpful, but the app logs at the disconnect event are:
2016-04-16T15:12:15.188Z [Info] Received new resolution from server: w=1910 h=985
appblast-util.js:3 2016-04-16T15:12:15.189Z [Info] Disabling scrollbar.
appblast-util.js:3 2016-04-16T15:17:21.966Z [Debug] system/heartbeat onClose() called for the session
appblast-util.js:3 2016-04-16T15:17:21.967Z [Debug] Stream is closed.
appblast-util.js:3 2016-04-16T15:17:30.153Z [Info] Setting up stream for null

Also started a discussion in vmware community: https://communities.vmware.com/message/2589792

I've been attempting to track down the revision where this breaks however I am having difficulties checking out the older revision of the source tree. I'll continue working on this as well.
