Chrome reloads youtube pages after 4-5 seconds

Reported by haas.oli...@gmail.com, Apr 14 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/50.0.2661.75 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Login to Youtube
2. Open https://www.youtube.com/my_videos?o=U
3. Site loads and after 4-5 seconds it will load again and you can not click anywhere

What is the expected behavior?
It happens on some more youtube pages, e.g.
https://www.youtube.com/my_videos?o=U
or
https://www.youtube.com/dashboard?o=U

It is loaded, everything shows up, but after 4-5 seconds it will load again

What went wrong?
Take a look at my video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3pgtc7sak4bzibi/chrome.mov?dl=0

Did this work before? Yes Since 5-6 weeks the problem is there

Chrome version: 50.0.2661.75 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.11.4
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0

Unable to reproduce the issue for chrome version 50.0.2661.75 on MAC 10.11.4 using Youtube videos. Navigated to Youtube and signed in. Played some videos from the saved play list. Video played continuously without reloading.

@ haas.oliver: Request you to please try resetting chrome, restart machine and try again. please let us know with your observations.

Thanks.!
Dear ranjitkan,

yes, problem is still here, and it is not in playlists or on videos - as I wrote it is when I go to
https://www.youtube.com/my_videos?o=U
or
https://www.youtube.com/dashboard?o=U

Did you see the video, in which I showed exactly what happend?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/3pgtc7sak4bzibi/chrome.mov?dl=0

what I already did and the problem is still there:

- Reset of Chrome
- New Profil for Chrome
- Deleted chrome and installed new
- formated the macbook and installed chrome on the blank system
@ haas.oliver: Thanks for the feedback, I tried the same as you have shown in the video. Meanwhile I also played some videos in the playlist. I did not see any reloading of Youtube page on tab strip even if I play any thing or if just kept it idle.

I am using MAC 10.11.4 Retina Pro.

Could you please navigate to Dev-tools >Network> XHR and please see if there are any error reported in the list. If there are no results displayed request you to please hit cmd+r and try again.

Please update us with your observations.

Thanks.!

Sorry, I am not a pro in that - what exactly I have to do now?
Or do you can connect via teamvier and have a look?
Might be a code rendering bug, try resetting your chrome preferences, and then start again.

My first guess is that there's a runaway/rogue extension.

Try running the following command from the terminal, exactly as written:

/Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --user-data-dir=/tmp/h91

This makes a temporary profile in /tmp/h91, which won't have any of your previous extensions, history, etc. Try navigating to youtube and see if your problem persists.

Thanks for the idea - problem exists also.
Fascinating. My next guess is that somehow youtube or a CDN is serving you some improperly behaving javascript.

Can you take a trace following the instructions here:
https://www.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/trace-event-profiling-tool/recording-tracing-runs

and upload the results? Make sure to use a temporary profile, as I indicated in Comment #13.
Here it is.

1. Opened Youtube Video Manager
2. Opened Youtube Dashboard

both will reload after 4-5 seconds.

Thanks a lot for your support!

Netlog shows that the resources are only being fetched once. At 16.5s, the Dashboard Renderer does HTML parsing, etc. and looks like its loading the page.

Then at 22s, the page looks like it's going through a layout again, without fetching resources or parsing HTML. Sounds like a youtube bug.

rgustafson: Any idea who I should forward this to?
Anyone of you changed something?

Now it is so:

Site loads, after 1 seconds the circle is moving again and that's it.
I'm not aware of anything on the YouTube side changing to fix this or alter the behavior here. It's possible that a new site release had a side effect of changing this behavior for you, either in the release itself or solving some indirect problem (ie bad cache).

Are you saying that the current behavior is that the circle starts moving after a second and then stops, or it continues moving? If it's stopping, then I assume that is just some delay-loaded content and it's fine.
