Cannot open GTK File Browser dialog Box as of Chrome 50

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/50.0.2661.75 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Use a website that allows you to upload/attach file (like Gmail, or the "Choose file" button on this form)
2. Click attach file button
3. Nothing happens

What is the expected behavior?
a GTK File dialog box

What went wrong?
Button shows click animation and nothing happens

Did this work before? Yes Chrome 49.0.2623.112-1

Chrome version: 50.0.2661.75  Channel: stable
OS Version: Debian Jessie 8.4
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0

I am using the Awesome Window Manager (A tiling window manager) which has had problems with Chrome before. See https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=430910# which was related to Awesome + GTK

I also can not download any files. Download never begins.

I was just able to fix the problem however. Similar to my comment here https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=430910#c33 I downloaded the latest GTK and compiled (http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/gtk+/2.24/gtk+-2.24.30.tar.xz) and now downloads and opening native GTK dialogs work.
