Chrome performance regression on CSS poster-circle demo |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionOS: Android Device: Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) open https://webkit.org/blog-files/3d-transforms/poster-circle.html (2) see the animation in the page and measure the FPS (frame per second) What is the expected output? The animation should be smooth. What do you see instead? The animation is slow. This regression is caused by https://codereview.chromium.org/1262163004. FPS drops from ~50 to ~40 after the CL landed.

Brianderson@, can you take a look at this performance regression?

That patch would hurt the fps in cases like this where we aren't quite hitting 60fps. It would improve latency though for content that mostly hits 60fps with a hiccup here and there. Here are a summary of the perfbot alerts for that patch: https://chromeperf.appspot.com/group_report?rev=351836 They are mostly green, with large wins in latency and small regressions in throughput. Closing as WontFix. |
