Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1. With hardware keyboard connected, navigate to google.com 2. Touch on any part of the page except the search input field on the page 3. Start typing 4. BUG: Nothing happens What is the expected behavior? The typed chracters in Step#3 should go to the search input field What went wrong? Nothing happened. The search bar on google.com did not gain focus, and the typed characters did not appear on the search input field. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 49.0.2623.105 Channel: n/a OS Version: M5C14J Flash Version: Is this a bug in Chrome Android or google.com?

This is because on step 2. you touch the point outside of input field, which blur the focus from input field - then keyboard input would go nowhere? If the focus is on the search input field, does the search text move to URL (search) bar as expected?

On desktop web browsers, the search bar re-claims focus *despite* step 2. On second thought, whichever team owns the Search page is probably the more appropriate team to file this to do initial root cause analysis. File a bug to the search team: b/28410330.
